Current product scope

CutOps arranges rectangular parts on rectangular sheet or panel stock. It supports planning for wood panels, aluminum flat stock, rectangular glass, sheet metal, plastics, and similar two-dimensional cutting workflows. This page is a factual feature inventory, not a pricing or billing offer.

Commercial terms can change independently of product behavior. Use the pricing page for current prices, purchase options, renewal terms, and promotional availability.

Inputs, controls, and results

Inputs

Parts include a label, width, length, quantity, enabled state, row-level rotation rule, and optional material and grain-direction values. Stock includes width, length, quantity, enabled state, and optional material. Jobs can use millimeters, centimeters, meters, decimal inches, feet and inches, or fractional inches as one consistent unit system.

Core controls

Kerf, entered quantities under the fixed-stock default, and row-level rotation constraints are part of the core workflow. Pro adds direct access to fixed or unlimited stock-mode selection, advanced solver controls, material matching, grain-direction enforcement, and comparison of distinct strategy candidates.

Result review

Results include sheet patterns, placements, repeated-pattern counts, utilization, used and wasted area, cut count, cut length, ordered cut instructions, offcuts, and unplaced units. A high utilization percentage does not override an incomplete allocation or a real production constraint.

Storage and continuity

Core work is browser-based. The active workspace is retained as a local recovery draft, while named projects are stored in a separate local project library. Project JSON is the portable backup and transfer format. Paid signed-in access can add cloud continuity when authentication, entitlement, network access, and synchronization are all available.

Current limitations

  • Geometry is rectangular; arbitrary-shape nesting is not supported.
  • Optimization is heuristic and does not certify a global optimum.
  • Material properties, structural suitability, and process tolerances are not calculated.
  • Results can be partial, and every unplaced unit must be reviewed.
  • Cloud state is not guaranteed without a successful authenticated synchronization.
  • CutOps does not generate G-code, toolpaths, controller files, or manufacturer postprocessors.
  • ASCII DXF R12 output is machine-neutral and requires validation in the downstream CAD/CAM workflow.
